5月25日上午，记者在延吉天池路附近看到，施工人员在雨水井内壁钻孔，安装6个金属挂钩，然后将白色网袋挂在挂钩上。这个白色网兜就是防坠网。
不要小看这张小小的防坠网，它是一张“生命防护网”。近年来，由于井盖丢失损坏，排水防汛时行人伤亡事件时有发生，对市民生命财产安全造成一定威胁。但安装防坠网后，即使井盖丢失或损坏，也会将行人托住井内，防止人员伤亡，为居民出行安全增加“双保险”。
为保障市民安全，及时消除井盖隐患，延吉市城市管理综合行政执法局于今年5月初开始为延吉市区主次干道部分雨水井安装防坠网。
延吉市城市管理行政执法局市政管理科副科长孟说:“为保障市民脚下安全，及时消除井盖隐患，延吉市河南街、长白山路等5条主次干道7000个雨水井排水系统安装了防坠网装置。防坠网承重150公斤以上的人和物，能起到一定的支撑作用，而且防坠网的网眼比较均匀，不影响日常渗水，不易造成杂物堵塞。”
截至目前，已有700多口雨水井安装了防坠网，预计10月底完成。下一步，延吉市城市管理综合行政执法局将加强井盖的日常巡查和维护，严格落实井盖安全管理，处理异常情况和突发事件，及时进行更换、更换和维护，确保井盖安全运行。
