6月1日15时许，四川阿坝州茂县一名2岁儿童踩井盖坠亡。他11岁的妹妹跳进井里去救伤者。
“在小花园里，画啊，画啊，画啊~在小井盖上画小花；在大花园里，画啊，画啊，画啊~画大风筝，画大花。”泾阳的“小画家”们以井盖为画布，运用精湛的绘画技巧，在公园的井盖上披上了一件华丽的“新装”。
图片显示，事发地点的井盖比路面上的洞要大，盖住了路面，与洞不完全吻合。
遇难男孩家属任先生称，事发前两天井盖与停放的车辆发生碰撞后移位，导致6月1日男孩踩踏，井盖翻倒。
任先生说，当时和男孩在一起的11岁的妹妹立即跳入井里救弟弟，两人都被困在井里。事发几分钟后，一名路人听到了孩子的呼救声，才将其救出。2岁男童当场失去生命体征，11岁女童受伤送医。
6月3日，事发公司所属公司工作人员表示，已抵达当地处理此事，正在与家属协商。
